I saw a post on LinkedIn from Daniel Kraft, MD about an AI-generated podcast and curiosity got the best of me. I wanted to see how it worked, so I played around with it using the slide deck from my upcoming “Reworking the Script” class.
There are a few things they didn’t get right, like the way they say “ANTs” for “Automatic Negative Thoughts” misses the mark, but all-in-all it is a fairly decent “talk” between two (not real) people as if they took the class. They use “deep dive” and other cringe-worthy (but popular) hot words and phrases, but that makes it seem like two podcasters trying to make it big and become popular - not computer generated.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this. It was super easy to do. I simply saved my slides and notes into a pdf, then uploaded it into notebooklm.google.com and clicked a button to generate audio. I can’t edit it, so there is some room for improvement, but for a free AI tool, I am blown away with what it did.
I also went to chatGPT to generate an image to use for this post. I didn’t ask it to include my name or any identifiers.
I’m a bit scared that the podcast generator did as good of a job as it did. It will make it hard to know when there’s real people behind content and when something is computer generated. Social media has already shown the ability to grow echo-chambers of like-minded folks repeating false information, and AI generated things have the potential to spread a lot of misinformation in a way that can mislead masses.
But it does have an appeal… it was easy and can help people learn about things, even if it’s got some quirks and not-quite-right information.
