I’m a mother and pediatrician who strongly believes that knowledge is power. I have been in practice over 20 years and have two young adult children. My experiences both as a mother and pediatrician have helped to develop my knowledge base and practice style.
During the early pandemic years, I started leading monthly online ADHDKCTeen events through our local CHADD chapter. ADHDKC events cover a wide range of topics related to ADHD. There are events for Parents of kids with ADHD as well as Adults, Women, and Teens with ADHD. All meetings are free and open to the public.
When I discovered that Dr. Nerissa Bauer was seeking pediatricians to teach her Teach Me ADHD classes, I jumped at the chance. I was immediately drawn to her creative use of a detective theme to keep kids — and their parents — engaged and learning. After leading several groups of Jr. Detectives, I was inspired to create a similar course tailored specifically for teens.
By that time, I had been leading the ADHDKCTeen group for a few years and absolutely loved working with this age group. That passion led to the development of Director’s Cut, a theater-themed program where teens step into the role of “director” of their own lives. Through the course, they learn how to “re-write” their life script and navigate the challenges of executive functioning with confidence and creativity.
I started this blog to share evidence based and personal reflections on various topics related to pediatrics and keeping kids healthy. Topics covered include those relevant to my current practice and pediatric health news. Starting in 2024, I’m focused on ADHD, Executive Functioning, and related conditions. I talked about my journey years ago on GetHealthy360. I’ll be sharing more of the journey as well as information for parents and teens on my socials.
