Dr. Stuppy- this is fantastic information. As a mental health nurse, professor, and executive function coach, I have worked with many youths (and adults) who have ADHD. You are spot on with some of the social challenges they may face. I love the tips you provided including role-playing and improving self-regulation. Teens are so full of amazing potential. Let's keep this positivity rolling. : )

I'm glad to hear you appreciate this. As a general pediatrician who sees a lot more mental health concerns than I ever thought I would, I've learned that I need to do more than just prescribe medication and recommend therapy. There are too many roadblocks to therapy, so I've started giving tidbits at visits and volunteering with the local CHADD chapter to teach to their teen group. I've found that I love doing the teaching, and feel like maybe I missed my calling as an executive functioning coach. ;-)
